Some of my husband’s trophies are old and have been hanging on the wall for a long time and the effects of age, dryness, light and different temperatures had left their mark. When it comes to showcasing trophy animals, making sure they are treated with the utmost care is paramount. Not all taxidermists are created equal and just because other taxidermist’s prices might be better, that doesn’t mean the quality of work is better. I had 95 mounts (plus or minus a few) to have cleaned this year and we found Old Wolf Taxidermy. I was able to talk with Fritz Richards (the owner) and he sent me his quote along with 3 references. I called all the references and each one had incredible things to say about Fritz, the quality of his work and his communication style. I decided to have Fritz come to North Carolina to clean all of my mounts. He did his due diligence before coming to North Carolina and after. He was in touch with my assistant and they worked out details like what size ladders to bring, where all my mounts were, and if there were any mounts that needed special attention. Fritz is easy to talk with and very knowledgeable about mounts. He has a great eye for detail and takes a lot of pride in his work. Upon completion, he emailed me a report of what he found in great detail. It was very helpful and informative. Fritz did an incredible job and all the mounts look fantastic. His price was very fair and as a first time customer, he gave me an extra break on the pricing. I would highly recommend Fritz and Old Wolf Taxidermy.
